There’s ONE true queen bee of high-school dark comedy, and that’s HEATHERS. And now, Theatre Contra is taking this cult-classic script of teen angst, croquet, and casual homicide and performing it LIVE!

Get ready for a night of savage one-liners, color-coded tyranny, and a love story so toxic only Winona Ryder could pull it off. So pull on your scrunchies, hop in a go-kart and prepare for an evening of beautifully bitchy mayhem as we bring this deliciously dark masterpiece to life.

“Four White Dudes and One Half of a Guitar” is a new play by E Quinn in the form of a parody fanfiction from the days of 2010s band fandom / Tumblr tween cringecore. If the word “Wattpad” resonates with you at all – BE THERE. The first public reading of this one-act comedy will also feature a Y2K vendor mart featuring themed treats by MK’s Baked and zines/prints/stickers/custom jewelry by Tulula’s Tulips! Come out and support GIRLPOPE THEATRE COMPANY as the queer producing collective hosts their second community fundraiser, free of charge with plenty of opportunities to give a good-faith donation! Horror in the Arts and Womanhood Panel Discussion and Mixer

Because it’s ALWAYS spooky season for women in America, join us for a special panel discussion on horror in theatre & film and being a woman today. This panel will feature Philly locals Alyssandra Docherty (award winning Philadelphia freelance lighting designer) Christina Acevedo (founder of Girls Like Horror, an inclusive film club shining light on horror films made by women AND scary/haunting/grotesque movies with strong, complex, multidimensional female protagonists), and Priyanka Shetty (award winning actor, playwright, and director based in Philadelphia).

Be sure to come at 7pm and also stay after the discussion for time to mix and mingle, as well as experience tarot card readings from Christina Rosso-Schneider and shop spooky wares from A Novel Idea on Passyunk and local artisans.

Please note this is a 21+ event. ID is required for entrance.

Machiniac: A Play About Cybernetics + Awkwardly Unsuccessful Romance At The End Of The World

Stranded on a brick roof in Providence RI, an unlikely duo pass post-apocalyptic hours encountering memories that may or may not have happened or are not happening as they succumb to the temptations of biohazardous mechanical bionic unification. In the existential, dialogic tradition of Waiting for Godot, Machiniac is a play about cybernetics and awkwardly unsuccessful romance at the end of the world.

The cast includes An Talatinian, Lids Bierenday, and Ellen Zahniser. Tech crew includes Sam M-H and Addie Boyd. The play runs about 1 hour 10 mins with no intermission. Content warning for self harm, psychosis, descriptions of body horror, and partial nudity.
