This Tutu Mary’s date will be the debut of the Loco Moco Plate Lunch!
A bit of Herstory on the Loco Moco in Hawaii:
Loco moco originated in 1949 at either the Lincoln Grill or Cafe 100 in Hilo, Hawaii after teenagers from a local athletic club asked for a filling and inexpensive meal The dish was named after a teammate nicknamed “Loco” (crazy), with “moco” added because it rhymed. The original version had rice, a hamburger patty, and brown gravy, with the fried egg added later to complete the now-iconic comfort food of Hawaii.
