Collide Zine Turns 4: Issue 13 Release Party + Open Mic

Join us for an unforgettable evening at our second home, Tattooed Mom, as we celebrate two major milestones: Collide Zine’s 4th birthday and the release of our 13th edition!

For four years, Collide Zine has been dedicated to uplifting local artists, poets, writers, and community members through creative collaboration and grassroots storytelling. This celebration is our way of honoring the incredible community that has made it all possible.

The night will feature:

🎨 A Vendor Village showcasing local artists, makers, and small businesses in the front room of the bar

🖌️ A Live Painter creating artwork in real time throughout the evening

🎤 Two Featured Poets sharing powerful original work to open the night

📖 A Two-Hour Open Mic in the upstairs back room, welcoming poets, storytellers, musicians, comedians, and creatives of all kinds

📰 Fresh Copies of Collide Zine Issue 13 available for purchase

Whether you’ve been with us since Issue 1 or you’re discovering Collide for the first time, this event is a chance to connect with other aritts, support locally made products and business owners, and celebrate the vibrant community that continues to grow around this little zine of ours!

All experience levels are welcome at the open mic. Bring a poem, a song, a story, or simply come to listen and enjoy the magic of a room full of creative expression.

We’re looking for artists, crafters, makers, zines, vintage sellers, and other creative small businesses to join our Vendor Village. If you’d like to sell your wares at the event, please fill out the vendor application form here.

FUCK ICE Art Auction and Benefit Showcase

Collide Zine invites Philly to an evening of art, resistance, and collective action.

CALL FOR ART!

We are seeking “FUCK ICE” themed art pieces to create a massive gallery wall of resistance through creative expression. Whether you’re a painter, graphic designer, sculptor, clothing designer or collage artist–all media are welcome to enter for our showcase.

Art rules and specifics:

  • The deadline to submit art is June 1st at 12AM EST
  • Artists can apply with a maximum of four artworks.
  • There is no fee to apply–artists must donate a minimum of 50% total sale price to Vamos Juntos. We encourage more than that if you can.
  • Size requirements: artwork must be no larger than 50 in. x 50 in.
  • All work must be dry and ready to hang, with the appropriate hanging hardware provided by the artist (nails, command strips, etc)

All art will be auctioned off the walls by Collide volunteers throughout the evening. Bid on art by talking to the auctioneer stationed in the front room. We will also be selling Collide Zine and merch to benefit Vamos Juntos.

All sales are final! Any unsold art will be returned to the artist at the end of the event.

CALL FOR FEATURED PERFORMERS

Throughout the night we will have a scheduled lineup of featured performances highlighting local talent in the back room of the bar–be sure to arrive early so you don’t miss a beat! Doors re at 6, show starts 7pm.

All performers will receive pooled tips at the end of the evening, with the option to donate their tips to Vamos Juntos.

We are seeking public speakers, poets, standups, and everything in between —Please note that the venue cannot currently accommodate any musical performances. We apologize for this!

Journaling Workshop with Esse

Learn the benefits and basics of building a journaling routine with the radically empowering american abolitionist philosopher, @esse.kaye!

 

Have you ever wanted to keep a journal, but didn’t know where to start?

Do you struggle with confidence, inspiration, or perfectionism?

In this session, you’ll learn the benefits and basics of building a journaling routine. Through a mix of techniques including freeform, mind-mapping, and bullet journaling, this class will encourage you to trust yourself, bring your goals into focus, and develop your own unique style. Learn to challenge your inner critic and find your voice.

This workshop is about 90 minutes to two hours. Attendees are heavily encouraged to bring a journal or notebook and a writing utensil, but it’s not required. Suggested donation for the event is $10, but NOTAFLOF.

Join us for our long awaited debut of Collide Zine Issue 12 on March 3rd at our favorite community bar and art haven, Tattooed Mom!

Starting at 6pm, the upstairs front room will be open for shopping a select 10 local artist and maker’s wares–make friends with our thriving artist family and see what our zine is all about!

To pick up your pre orders of the issue or buy yours hot off the press, slide down to the back room of the upstairs bar, where we’ll be running an open mic for poetry, short stories, and comedy (you name it, anything goes!) from 6:30 to 9pm. We’ll be giving away RAFFLE PRIZES to anyone who performs on the mic–so get your name on the list early! Spots fill up quickly.

Everyone is a winner at this event–enjoy free art and tickets to upcoming art events from our local business partners <3

Collide Zine (@collidezinephilly) takes over upstairs at TMOMS on Sunday, March 2nd, from 6-9PM for an unforgettable night of open mic performances and art vendors to celebrate the release of their newest Issue, No. 9!

🌱What’s Happening:

  • Zine Release: Grab your copy of Collide before it hits shelves anywhere else. Hot off the press!

  • Open Mic: Share your poetry, prose, or music—sign-ups open at 6, performances start 6:30. Prizes will be given out to our top performers!

  • Local Vendors: Between open mic sets, shop local art vendors in the front room and mingle with friends! Grab a drink at the bar and enjoy delicious vegan food and snacks!
