SCRIBES ON SOUTH is a poetry reading and open mic. The reading begins with a 20-minute featured reader and then moves through the open mic list for the rest of the night. Open mic readers have 5 minutes. There will be a space for poets to sell books.
SCRIBES ON SOUTH seeks to create community through poetry. Show out, share, and meet some new friends by sharing your work!

Alejandro Santana. A nobody looking for something who has done it all just to feel alive, because it is better to feel something than nothing at all. Alejandro was born in the Dominican Republic but has been living in Philadelphia for the past eight years, always following the American dream while looking for a taste of real life. Alejandro’s first book A Pastime From Yesterday is out now.

Are you ready for an evening of creepy creativity, spooky spoken word, and paranormal poetry? Then join us Monday, October 23rd, from 6-10PM for an event that is the perfect pre-game for that costume you’re dying to try out on Halloween weekend.

Yes, there will be a costume contest, art raffles, a poetry open mic in the back room, and art vendors in the front room of the upstairs bar until close. We also invite attendees to PASTE DA WALLS with your handmade art and stickers! Support local artists and poets in a way you’ve never seen before. We’ve got tricks, we’ve got treats, and we’re keeping the mic going all night long!
This event is free 21+. Open mic spaces are limited, so get there early to reserve your spot. Raffle winners will be announced at 9:30 sharp, and all tickets sold help support Collide Zine, now in its fifth edition. You can purchase a copy at the event or by following @collidezinephilly.

The witches are coming — and they’re bringing the laughs! Witches’ Brew is a femme-forward comedy show featuring some of the best talent in Philadelphia. Improvisers Hot Dog with Mustard will join Gam Gam (with special guest Siobhan O’Hara) and comedian Betty Smithsonian for a night celebrating Philly femme performers.
