Cinema Ray presents: Rare Exports

Join Cinema Ray for a screening of Rare Exports, the horrific holiday tale set in the Korvatunturi Mountains where the biggest, most evil secret about Santa exists!

Be sure to get there early for a lucky ticket drawing for terrific prizes, followed by an award winning short film. As a bonus, show up in an ugly holiday sweater for additional cool prizes!

The festivities begin at 8pm with the doors opening at 7:15pm. Admission is $5.00.

Turn up the Trans*mission: December

Combining trans advocacy with live performance, Turn Up the Trans*mission is a variety show with no equal. Including burlesque, drag, live-singing, spoken word, and other performance styles, this varied collection of artists has a purpose. Community building and visibility are two main goals of the show, and as such, all proceeds of our show go directly to the performers.

Trans*mission aims to create a space for trans identified performers to express their art without fear of prejudice, creating awareness while breaking down barriers of bigotry. Part of the Philadelphia LGBTQ Arts Initiative, who helps to create safe spaces for sharing and observing live performance art created by trans and/or gender non-conforming artists in Philadelphia.

Doors at 7pm, show starts at 8.

An evening of local poetry with John O. Mason

John O. Mason presents an evening of literature with local Philly poets Frank Sherlock and Irving Jones.

Frank Sherlock is the author of Life Is to Blame for EverythingSpace Between These Lines Not DedicatedOver HereThe City Real & Imagined (w/ CAConrad) and a collaboration with Brett Evans entitled Ready-to-Eat Individual. Poems beyond the page have found their forms in installations/performances/exhibitions, including Organize Your Own: The Politics & Poetics of Self-Determination. He is a 2013 Pew Fellow and 2014-15 Poet Laureate of Philadelphia.

John O. Mason will have copies of his anthology, All Of The Above, along with two other poetry volumes.
