DESCRIPTION:A reading for queer and trans poets. \n  \nTUESDAY\, MARCH 18TH\nDOORS @ 7:30PM + SHOW @ 8PM\nNO COVER // FREE FUN \n  \nAdoom Cusack was born and raised in Philly. This city with its unique and multicultural communities kept them here for over four decades. Attending CAPA High School and UArts\, now closed permanently\, to pursue in film and animation. Receiving a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts; BFA. After years of freelancing and networking\, Adoom found another calling in mental health. Working with at-risk children in the Philadelphia region. Communicating coping skills and tools to thrive in a challenging and ever changing world. Next goal is to enroll in Grad School for a Masters in Art Therapy. Using this year to research and network with other professionals on how to get grants and other means to receive this title. \nInstagram: @adoomcusack \n  \nNico haven (they/them) is a queer\, trans non-binary\, autistic writer and poet. They are working to get published A EULOGY AND A CHRISTENING: Poems & Prose in Transition\, their first poetry collection about their gender transition and personal growth journey\, and DECADE OF UPSTREAM SWIMMING\, an essay collection that traces their personal and political awakening through their 20s. \nNico is also working on A QUESTION FROM THE IMMOLATING\, a poetry collection engaging in the politics of climate change\, and THE FOURTH WORLD WAR\, a long poem about life during the wartime of globalization and collapse. \nBefore moving to Philadelphia in August 2024\, Nico was volunteer Program Director for the Harrisburg Writers Group\, leading weekly workshops and craft conversations in both poetry and prose. \nInstagram: @nico_haven \n  \nGray Agpalo is a writer whose work has appeared in Apogee\, baest: a journal of queer forms and affects\, TLDTD: a biannual journal for Filipino poets and poetry\, and elsewhere. Their work is concerned with intertextuality\, slow practice\, and chronic pain. They are a member of the collective\, Sick in Quarters. \n  \nTaylor Alyson Lewis \nTaylor Alyson Lewis is a poet and high school teacher based in Philly. Taylor has received fellowships to support his writing from Lambda Literary\, Fine Arts Work Center\, and Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing\, where he was awarded the Queer Writer Fellowship in Prose. \nInstagram: @blackboipoet \n  \nMaia Brown-Jackson: After an incredibly practical literature degree from the University of Chicago\, award-winning\, pushcart-nominated Maia Brown-Jackson then braved the myriad esoteric jobs that inevitably followed\, ultimately straying to Iraq to volunteer with survivors of ISIS genocide. Inspired with a new focus\, she caffeinated herself through a graduate degree in terrorism and human rights and now investigates fraud\, waste\, and abuse of humanitarian aid in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan. Her work touches desire\, queerness\, capital\, & the social.
